11/18 : 7 PT Spread wins A championship vs Wolves 21-14

7 PT Spread improves to 3-0 in the postseason, while Wolves sit at 2-1.

The victory continues a 4 game winning streak for 7 PT Spread which now stands at 5 wins in a row.

The loss ended a 3 game winning streak for Wolves. .

Prior to this game, these teams had met only one other time, on Sep 27 2010, 20:00, a Fairfax County Flag Football League "A" regular season game which 7 PT Spread won 14-9.

7 pt Spread: 2010 FCFFL FALL "A" CHAMPS!

The Wolves defense was on the field for a long time tonight, as 7 Pt Spread put together several time consuming drives, cone by cone.

The Wolves had two big running plays, one on a QB option for 70+ yards, the other on a 60+ yard TD run involving at least 4 pitches, also scored by QB#1.

Wolves had the ball for the last meaningful possession, and took 8 shots from inside the 20 yard line but the 7 pt defense held (literally on one play).

Congrats to you guys. You came in the spring talking a bunch of trash on the boards and I thought you were a bunch of a$$holes but in the fall you kept your mouths shut and played the game, and judging by this you played it well. To win an A league `ship is an accomplishment. Congrats.

Summary Recap:
They scored on 2 or 3 plays on each of their possessions in the 1st half. They probably had a total of 5 1st half plays and 14pts. We scored both times also, eating up majority of the clock.

We got the ball 1st in the 2nd half, and had a 15+ play drive which gave them about 7min left when they got the ball. They started the drive on about the 25 due to a nice return and a unsportsmanlike conduct call on us. When they got in the redzone, we held them to 4th down only to get a PI called in the endzone. Then held for 4 more downs with an INT on 4th down. 1st play to run out the clock our guy ran in circles for about 30 secs. Ball game!!

Not sure if Novacaine signed up for Turkey Bowl but I think we are going to go down to states. Not sure if I am going to be able to make it to either because of my work schedule.

Novacaines didn`t get an invite to the Turkey Bowl. It`s invite only. League and tournament winners from this past year.

Wolves get ball and have a decent return.
1st or 2nd play was a QB draw for about 70 yrds with just about every defender missing the flag.

7pt gets ball around 20 and has a good drive down the field converting on a fourth down around the mid-field mark. Ended with a 1 yrd td to Grove.

Wolves get the ball and have another good return.
about 2-3 plays in they have a 60ish yrd td run that gets pitched around to the open players as they run downfield. Again 7pt players just missing flags.

7pt get the ball with about 2 min left from the 19 and drive down to around the Wolves 15 yrd line and 7pt scores with a corner route to Andy Tran in the back of the endzone.

Wolves get ball back, another good return that puts them around mid-field. Out of timeouts so they are only able to run about 2 plays before the half.

2nd Half-

7pt receives the kick and return man drops the ball one the 1ft line. 7pt gets out of the endzone on a 3rd down toss up to Cody for a 21 yrd gain. After that it was a steady drive down the field which ended up with a 7-10 yrd QB scramble for a td. 7pt just went 99 yrds and ate up a bunch of clock.

Wolves get the ball and AGAIN get a long return, to about the 7pt 40 and then a 15yrd penalty moves them up to 25yrd line. they get the first down so it becomes first/goal. 7pt stuffs the option a few times, but on 4th down the QB rolls right and the TE peels left for the jump ball but the defender gets called for PI....oops.

Wolves get a 1st down and the ball on the 1 or half the distance. whatever. they have 2 more crap plays but on 3rd down they have a wide open guy in the endzone, but the ball is overthrown by about a foot. Next play Wolves throw a INT that is returned to about the 11yrd line with 1:25ish left.

7pt does a run play that goes for about 30yrds to seal the deal. The dude ran around like Vick did vs teh Skins, it was sick!

If he didn`t play then I`m not suprised with the outcome of the game. How do you play in a semi final and not the ship?

Let these guys live. They won, get over it!

I didn`t play cause my knee wouldn`t allow me to. If I did I would have been a big liability. It didn`t matter anyhow, 7PT had a nice scheme on offense that our defense just didn`t have the answer to. There lineman were the key to their victory. They neutralized our rush and led their team in receptions. They were something like 10 for 10 on 3rd down too. That`s pretty impressive.

I think the play of the game was their openning drive of the second half. We had them backed up on their one yard line with 3rd down and 19 to go. They converted on a tipped ball. That`s just the kinda night it was for us. Good teams make the plays when they need to, and they did.

wolves #27 looked like a punk the whole game. I`m on neither team, and was glad to see him layin on the ground a couple of times.

both teams were at their best when making real quick passes. 7pt spreads qb did a great job moving around the pocket just for an extra second or two.

7pt spread couldn`t pull a flag for their life for 3 quarters of the game. cody got them going with some good pulls on the last drive. And their corner, no jersey, green under armor guy, stuck two guys on two consecutive plays. first on a kick return i think, and then he flattend the wr at the line of scrimmage. didn`t let him get off the line.

wolves had a chance to tie after 7pt got a PI called against them at the goaline. wasn`t sure if they were in the endzone or not. but that could`ve ruined it for 7pt spread.

wolves had the right idea about making quick passes and then pitchin it every time someone got to them in the first half. 7pt spread didnt stop it on the two big plays for the wolves. It seemed like the 2nd half of the game the wolves weren`t looking for the quick routes and the YAC, or their plays just didn`t develop quickly enough. 7pt spread defense stepped up big on their last drive.

Not to mention, I think it was Grove, who had the catch of the game off the defenders foot on 7pts winning drive.
