Oh, and not to lose sight, mad props to Groveburger and the rest of the crew. It takes something to win an A championship, it takes something special to win more than one. Not too bad for a team everyone said would get their asses handed to them when they first came into the league.

on the game: I left on the first half and from the looks of it, 7pt Spread came out ready to play and the Spartans did nothing but run the mouth a lot. I really thought a fight was going to brake out between the two.

refs: All season I notice a ref make one or two bad calls but for this game the refs where on point. They even told one 7pt Spread player to stop trash talking or he was going to be thrown out. On a other not, the refs did a great job all season in A, B, C league.

I agree with Swami on that point. Winning back to back in your third season in A league is awesome because not a lot of teams can start out like that. Some teams been here longer and still haven`t won their first. Congrats to Spartans for making it all the way to the championship in their first season too.

the only bad calls i saw was the no pass interference call on 7pt wr after he clearly grabbed the db. 2. at the end of the game when spartans were flagged for throwing a bow near the goaline (both guys were being physical). Aside from that everything looked about right. yes, even the roughing the passer call on 3rd down (hit the ball first but followed through the qbs arm).

#95 should have found a treadmill instead of even thinking of waddling on the feild,#75 needs to find a weight room

@7pt Spread: Back to back A league ships doesn`t come easy in this league so congrats 7pt Spread on your team`s success. I`m not going to deny it, I was one of the guys two seasons ago saying that it would take 7pt Spread time to win a A league ship lol. Look at you guys now, two ships within three seasons, looks like your teams hate rate just raised a little. Congrats again boys.

Spartans: D.O and Locs, you two put together a good team and hope you guys stay around for Bark Bowl, States, and many more seasons. You guys may not have won it your first season but if you guys return next Fall I can this team making a run for the ship again.

@ 7pt picture Q - I`m guessing the two trophies in the middle are for the championship and winning the A league division, the other two must be the trophies when 7pt Spread won it last Fall, well that`s what I think. Congratulation to both teams on their success.

Yeah, it might have been a missed pass interference call, but it wouldn`t have mattered. It would have just been a 35 yard TD pass instead of a 20 yard one...nobody was within 15 yards of the WR when he scored...WIDE OPEN!

good game Sparta. Doubt we will see most of you in the fall because you will be off playing in "the league" where ever that is, but good to spend some time with you this spring.

Refs let a lot go last night, typically tight on language and what not, but last night there were f-bombs and n-bombs here and there and no flag was thrown. They even let a guy play with a pink headband A few other calls went against us, but most of them against Sparta because of their lack of discipline. In the end we played a better game and with/without the refs I am confident 3/3 times the result would have been the same.

Good game and congrats to the Spartans for getting to the chip in their first season. There are a lot of growing pains whenever you put a team together but I think they did a good job of getting to the finals. As for the game I will say it`s a very tough game for refs cause they talk a lot and we not scared so they gonna talk some more. I think we made the plays last night and they didn`t.


With all that said I mentioned at the beginning of the season that we added a player that would elevate us to true contender and not a team that got hot at the end of the season with good players. Timmy flat out got it done this season. There was convo of all ffcfl I think hands down he was the most dominant all around defender this season. Brought our team everything we were lacking. First , I want to congratulate the two time defending champs, 7 Pt, on their victory. Good gob. Like any championship caliber team they capitalized on all of our penalties and mistakes.

Second, the discussion has been about the ref theme during the game. Penalties have been our Achilles heel during the season no doubt and as I mentioned 7 Pt did what any good squad is supposed to do take advantage of them. When you give a team more penalty yards then offensive yards it makes it very difficult to win. I’m not going to go into the dynamics of every call and sit here and say that every penalty against us was unwarranted. The no calls were the ones that bothered me the most. Unfortunately, the theme of the game wasn’t the Spartans vs 7 Point. It was the Spartans vs the Refs which made a championship game itself uninteresting and not even competitive.

Again, 7 Pt. congrats on the ‘ship and I hope to see everyone in the Bark Bowl.

Jeff aka Bigsho06, might do a lot of talking, but he is like the saving grace of that defense. Much like DO is to the offense.

@Cody - I think Willy never liked you guys just because he been here for so long and still hasn`t won a A league ship.

IMO it is the spartan players that make it about them vs the refs, not vice versa. I have found that if you argue EVERY call then you don`t have any leverage when they blow a bad call. The more you talk/complain to them the worse it gets, locs should know that.

@a player - Not arguing your point at all. Both sides (refs & players) have to remove themselves from the situation and take responsibility for their actions especially when both sides are starting to take things personal. And that didn’t happen last night. The ref, Terrel, refs a lot of the players on my team games in other leagues. Terrel knows that they talk and will dispute calls but he doesn’t take things personal. We have a good repoire with him. The others in the crew seemed to take things a little too personal and it was reflected in the game. But like I said it’s a two way thing, we have to remove ourselves from the situation as well. This isn’t the platform to go into my team’s issue with this particular referee crew. The fact is the issue was bought to my attention with the solution going forward. I didn’t even have to address it so I’m pleased with that outcome. Hopefully the issue has been addressed. But in a championship game don’t let that be the theme like I said our penalty yards were more than their offensive yards. As a ref you can’t let your personal gripe with a team be the theme in any game especially a championship game. That is all.

@ Grove Timmy is a monster i remember my first bark bowl this guy played 3 games went and bailed hay and then came back to play the Ship. Show every game and play 110% every play.

why cant Spartans just STFU and play football? Is it really that difficult?

It`s not my place to justify the refs or whatever, but I will say it`s the players responsibility to adjust to how a games being called. I think one thing we learned in this league is that arguing in this league gets the refs to spotlight you more. With that said a few of the guys on the Spartans were defintely taking cheap shots as well as making comments like "come over the middle and you gonna get cleaned up, straight elbow". It`s just unnecessary and again puts the spotlight on you and your team. I just don`t want our win discredited and it sounds like there a lot of underlying hints being made that it was all on the refs. They didn`t throw two redzone picks, leave folks open, or tackle guys

I think its a cop-out to blame the refs. I`m surprised some Spartan players (#6 & #30) didn`t get ejected. I`m even more surprised there weren`t any personal fouls called on Spartan players. If anything, the refs were very lenient in letting things go.

That has nothing to do with the refs and is all the players fault....

I whatched most of the first half last night and the refs where on point with most calls. Refs where easy on the trash talking from both teams but in the end 7pt Spread controlled the game both ways from offense and defense. Spartans played good but 7pt Spread played better and was eating up a lot of the play time. I think with or without the bad calls, 7pt Spread would have won this game no matter what.

@Grove – Not discrediting your team’s win at all. Like I said your team did what it was supposed to do win. Capitalize on our penalties and mistakes. Who wants to see or participate in any game yet alone a championship game where every other play on an opponent’s offensive drive a penalty is called? As far as the cheap shots, anything that was considered a cheap shot we were called penalized for. Now on the other hand, your centers like to run with the ball leading with his elbows and will occasionally project his elbow when a defender approaches. I personally asked the refs to watch that. They didn’t call anything. No problem. But don’t call my player for a penalty when he grabs your center’s flags first and then protects himself with his elbow. C’mon now.

I agree and I told Ty that I didn`t agree with that penalty as well as at the end when Cody gave himself up but yall didn`t grab the flag I thought he should have been down. I was just saying that when you make a point to be over aggressive the refs typically try to tighten up to make sure things don`t get out of hands. I would have hoped that less penalties were called and definitely was happy there were no ejections.

I disagree Locs. I think y`all were only on the raw end of 2 calls (or non calls). My Offensive PI on Jeff, and the penalty on DO at the end (which ultimately resulted in nothing, because it was 4th down and the half the distance was like 1 yard, and we kicked the field goal anyway).

Your guys are confusing the rules in this league with the DC ELI like or the VA Mid Atlantic league where "bodying up" before you grab the flag is allowed and encouraged. I`ve played in both and that`s how it goes down over there. As a captain and person that has played in THIS league for a while it`s your responsibility to get your team on course with the rules of THIS LEAGUE. Not to sit there and get mad at the ref for calling it.

#7 stfu wit player in the league. alot of our players will be returning to COLLEGE in the fall to play so "child please" Second we lost the game period hands down but officiating was AWFUL. We had two turnovers in redzone one a obvious PI even in pictures Tom posted. We lost cuz we missed flags and penalties period. Everybody talking about we talking trash much **** people say to us first series of the game #8 7pt started talking to us first then got mad when we started talking back. We Lost cuz we didn`t execute Period.

Tyree - you may trash talk a lot on the board but you sure do give your props and respect after the game.

Jeff- you do a lot of talking on the field and massage board but after the game you a cool as dude

Locs - you got yourself a good team. 95% of your team can ball and make big plays. Just need to improve on the team work and less arguing.

@Cody - I mentioned previously that I`m not saying that all of our penalties were unwarranted. I mentioned already that the non calls and the theme of the game was what was troubling to me. Our INT before the half, your defender clearly jumped on the receiver`s (guy in the pink) back. That`s why he is on the ground on that one pic that someone commented on. Like I said I don’t want to get into the dynamics of each and every call. That’s a mute point at this stage. The game was really uninteresting and uncompetitive. Again my issues have been addressed with my team and this particular referee crew. This has been all season not just this game. Not blaming the refs because we definitely have to share the responsibility as well.

I`ll take Grove over W1LL any day. My dream OL would be Grove, Tyree, and Triple Crown center. As for W1LL, your a big guy which is good for blocking but your also very slow of the line too. W1LL does a good job blocking but speed rushers and strong DL easily control W1LL to force D.O into the pocket. Yes William we know you haven`t let a sack on D.O all season but like Magnums, Collision, Triple Crown, 7pt and others during the season forced you in or beat you around.

To compare Grove and Will is unfair to both. Will is an OL and has no other position on the field. Grove is not nor has ever been a lineman, he`s just seen better days and gotten fat. We line him up close to the line, "in case" we ask him to stay in and block otherwise, 90% of the time he`s going down field.

Only somebody that hasn`t played against us would say or think otherwise. No team we`ve played has ever lined up a DL over Grove, always somebody in coverage.
