No. Competition is great right now IMO. Field time and space is working out nice too. People just aren`t running their mouths this year.

Teams currently in the league are just into playing football, not ridiculous smack talking like we saw from some players last season. also some of the biggest talkers arent playing in the league anymore. it is really just a few players that do about 80% of the talking on here. the league is also in transition this season as some of the B and B+ teams build thier skills t ocompete in A and a few traditional A league teams folded. arlington league has snagged a few teams too.

I mean you still hear it on the field. I think you take away ESPN, Swami and all those other personalities that bring up debatable topics, then you get less of a response. You lose that its hard to keep the boards roaring.

Dupont circle is right,this season there is little to no talent at B,and it appears everybody is scared to play A,states will be a joke for fairfax this year to many dupont circle players

this is a great poll. well done anonymous poster. i say definitely yes, the league is dying off for sure. i mean, ya, there are about 40 teams and great competition from top to bottom in all the divisions, but that isn`t enough. there has been a decrease in messageboard garbage this season, and without all that obviously necessary trash talk, the league will die off very soon. obviously.

Plus, the Spartans are no longer posting blogs every day of the week. Then again, all it takes is one ridiculous (and logged in) dude to repeatedly post outlandish/offensive/dumb statements and, before you know it, the boards will be alive again. This is just a down season so far for chatter. I`ll try to make more attempts at teaching people English if opportunities arise.

I don`t think the league itself is "dying." However, the messageboard is not as entertaining as it once was. I don`t care that the Spartans aren`t posting their usual trash talk because that needed to go. But there are no more team analysis, upcoming matchup write ups, and interesting topics like there used to be. I liked a couple seasons back when Tom was doing stats because that also added another dimension to the messageboard but I understand that raises the cost of team fees. I don`t know what needs to happen but something needs to happen on the board.

I like reading the matchups and having the discussions, but get tired of having to filter out the worthless drivel people post. Deleting obnoxious, poorly written stupidity isn’t what killed the board. The board finally gets less action the fields do. All the smack talk from anonymous pu$$ies wasn’t enjoyable for most of us. We couldn’t even post a “good game” to an opponent without some childish moron posting a bunch of homoerotic slander behind it.

Some of the analysis-type posters may not play anymore...after all, everyone quits at some point.

Don`t corelate messageboard activity with the vitality of the league - 80% of the players in this league (635 players) never look at the board, and of the 20% who do - less than half actually post anything.

We`re probably more in a transitional state than anything else.

I am almost done with quite a few site enhancements that have been underway for a few weeks now - some of which I`ve had coaches test out first.

The new enhancements will bring a lot players to the site, though not specifically for the messageboard. The goal is to make the site a useful tool for coaches and players re: managing their team, building a team (or player) profile, and accessing information.

Besides, I`m going to spice things back up soon enough. Just waiting on the playoff schedule to come out. The regular season is so boring, no wants to talk except for the D3 girls from the B and C divisions...

I wonder how much more messageboard activity existed during the stat-keeping (and stats on website) years. I`m sure many more players were accessing the site then.

I agree, stat keeping was pretty cool and let to a lot of *meaningful* chatter. How much extra is the stat keeping?

Tom, I haven`t quit but having the A games more spread out its tough to see the other teams play until you play them. Something to think about. I am going to post before the playoffs too.

This league is not dying. Economy put a pinch on all of us , but this league has been around for a long time and will be better once we get some jingle in our pockets !
