Triple Crown&Hokies

The used-to-be champs won the regular season title and have to be the favorite to do the same in the playoffs. Hokies can surprise some teams and we will call this a defensive struggle, Triple Crown 7-0. Oops, that game was already played I see but I was right.


Novacaine&7 Point Spread

Can the back-to-back champs get it together for the playoffs or is this Triple Crown v2? As everyone knows Novacaine has added an obscure guy named "D.O." to put them over the hump but he is not playing QB for them and has exactly 0 titles to his name. He has quite a collection of 2nd place trophies though and could add to that very soon. Minus a week one loss to Bad Boyz by a point you would be looking at your division winner and D1 #1 seed. What happened to 7 Point? Did they expect everyone to roll over for them this season or have they really slipped a few notches? Their capable secondary will be tested often Monday and that`s where this game will be decided. If they don`t create enough pressure look for this game to be in the bag for Novacaine at halftime. If they do we could be in for a low scoring affair that comes down to the final drive. I expect to see the latter with Novacaine sealing a 3 pt win at the end of the game. Novacaine 17-14.


Wolves&Banditos

What should be an easy call was complicated a little bit by that 17-17 tie a few days ago. The Wolves these days have more than 1 or 2 guys standing on the sideline and those guys are all good players. This is a better team than the one which won the spring league on sundays. There might not be a better team out there at adjusting game plans to opponents. The Banditos can point to all 4 losses by less than a score but take away the win against Grayhounds and the only other win was a 3 point victory over Bad Boyz. Too bad the Greyhounds are not in the playoffs and the Boyz are in a different bracket. Banditos has never beaten a quality D1 team in the playoffs and they won`t start Monday. Every real contender will toss a clunker on the field once a season so throw that tie out the window, the Wolves will shake it off (and adjust), Wolves 24-14.


Bad Boyz&Penetrators

The 6th meeting between these teams in the past 6 months, lets call this one the football 365/24/7 bowl. The Penetrators are a team on rise and say what you will but the Boyz are always a threat to go the distance. This should be a classic game between 2 D1 teams who belong here and look for this playoff game to be more in line with a 2-6 point win than the last game where the Penetrators ran away with it. Point output has been a problem this year for the Boyz and they will have to figure out a way to restart that engine to have a shot in the post-season this time around but I don`t see them suddenly catching that spark. Penetrators have beaten everyone they "should" have and kept the game close in all but one loss. They "should" beat the Bad Boyz and they will, Penetrators 20-14.

Cares about A league. There`s only 9 teams, at least if you win B or C, you have to be better than 13 other teams.

are you saying that 13 C or B league teams are better than 9 A league teams? Any of the 9 A League teams would be the #1 seed in B and definitely in C.

If you don`t like it, join the A League. There`s a reason it`s called the A League. Make the jump if you think your relevant enough to do so.

Just saying that less people care about A, there are only 9 teams so that is 198 people max. There are 616 people max in B/C.

So the reality is that less people care about A. Outcast, Boots and maybe Pimp Hands could compete in A. At least better than Greyhounds and Hokies, and probably Banditos too.

Which teams from B will be joining A for the Spring, and which A team/teams will move down to B?

I love the haters on here for the bootleggers. I don`t know what they did, but this same guy keeps pulling up the novacaine loss. This bootleggers team is completely different. There are atleast 10 new faces on the team from the team that lost to Novacaine, and beat Badboyz and Hokies. The argument is dumb.

I`m losing faith in humanity. Can people really be this dumb?? Everyone please realize that a bunch of current A teams have played in B. So logically that means that there are B teams that can compete in A. End of story. I would love to hear any challenge to that analysis.

I just looked at the history of team and the following A teams have played in B:

Greyhounds
Novacaine
Penetrators
Badboyz
Banditos
Hokies

LOL

And not one of those teams have won A champiship.

Magnums won the championship in 2010 and used to be a B team. Next argument please.

The real point is none of these teams yakked about who they would beat in A while they were still playing in B. That`s the difference between them and this ish about Outcast, Bootleggers, Pimp hands. Clarification-- not that it really matters-- Badboyz never played in the `B` division in this league. We were signed up in the `B` State tournament once (believe me it was not a group/team decision but rather by the coach at the time) and most of the team members protested and did not show up/participate as a result.

If all our guys come back we`ll move up. Don`t know anything about states.

Anyone care to comment on the playoff analysis above?
I think 7pt will make a run, I hear they had attendance problem during the regular season. So if they get a good turnout for the playoffs they may even go for the 3-peat.

Idiot there was not A league and B league just open league and teams got put in A and B playoff at the end so no they were not playing in B league. I remember that season because Novacaine spanked Bootleggers 44-0.

Yeah that was a B championship from the Spring Open format. They didn`t play in B, they just didn`t make the A playoffs.

I am not a Bootlegger. I think if you look at the player turnover from year to year on an A team. Its not that high. Most teams that play in A, have had consistant teams for a while. Every now and then 2 teams merge or players switch teams. If you look at the bootleggers roster this fall and this past spring. Very different.

Nobody came on here saying bootleggers would win A. people came on here and said bootleggers, phop, and outcast could compete with the A teams. Maybe win a couple games.

Not to mention, how many people remember the circumstances of the previous games, weather conditions, turn out. or maybe a team just had a awful game.

I doubt bootleggers would win more then 3 games if 3 in A this season, but I think their team is a lot closer to playing in A now then it was in the spring or in 2010.

ya, these discussions come up every season. the reality is that the top few B teams can probably compete at A, but usually don`t do well in their first season. there is just too much to adjust to to hop in and expect to do really well. the teams that move up and stick with it usually end up in the top half of A, but it takes a few seasons.

these teams have the each of the best set of WR core in the A league, but also have 2 of the most inconsistent QB`s in the A league.

7pt WRs - Grove, Cody, Toney, Asian guy, and #3
Caines WRs - Cube, DO, Joe, DJ and Cap

You give either of these teams Jeremy or Brett and they probably make deep runs at state. Actually i think if DO qb`d either of these teams they make a deep run.

However you have the 2 fat boys QB`ing..

7pt QB - Cons: can`t handle rush, holds ball to long, and takes a lot of chances. Pros: Very accurate, will pick you apart if given time.

Caines QB - Cons: not accurate and can`t scramble. Pros: gets rid of it quick and allows WRs to make the plays for him.

This game comes down to which QB shows up, Alex Smith or John Kitna
